Case Study 16 – Space ray radiant heaters
Space-Ray LRDL30 gas fired radiant tube heaters install
Private school sports hall - Hampshire
Sports Hall – 630m²
Background:
A well established private school in Hampshire had been using an old oil fired cabinet heater to heat their 630m² sports hall. When the cabinet heater came to the end of its life, Industrial Heaters proposed an efficient alternative (Space-Ray LRDL30 gas fired Radiant Tube heaters) as its replacement.
Solution:
We installed two Space-Ray LRDL30 gas fired Radiant Tube heaters which were suspended at a high level. Industrial Heaters contracted a company to mole a gas main from an existing underground LPG Propane bulk tank to the sports hall. The route was approximately 60m in length travelling under a playground.
Result:
Now 116.8kW of Space-Ray infrared heat spreads evenly throughout the sports hall. The Space-Ray infrared heaters are controlled with a 7day programmer which includes an override facility. As is the case with most sports halls, it’s use is sporadic depending on lesson times, after school clubs and term times. The override function allows the user to adjust selected times from 10 mins to 8 hours. Once the override time has completed, the heaters cool down and revert back to the frost protection setting.
