Background:

A local car dealership acquired new premises in Christchurch, Dorset. They converted the existing buildings into a Showroom, Vehicle Workshop and Valeting Bays. The Workshop has 6 large ‘up & over’ doors for car access. Being a vehicle workshop, the door is in constant use throughout the day, 6 days a week. This has the potential for huge heat loss resulting in costly high energy consumption.

Solution:

Installation of a Winterwarm HR60 60.0kW condensing gas fired suspended unit heater & six Honeywell commercial magnetic door switches. A 50 meter stainless steel press fit gas main was installed from the gas meter to the heater.

Result:

The Winterwarm condensing heater has a massive modulation between 60.0kW & 19.1kW resulting in the heater ramming right down on milder days in the winter. But still has the power to warm the Workshop up quickly on the coldest of days. Because of the door switches, when any of the 6 doors open the heating circuit is switched to OFF, resulting in Workshop Technicians being mindful about keeping the doors shut when not in use. Ultimately this makes a huge saving on the energy bill!
